Have an extra shovel, trowel, weed trimmer, mower or other gardening tool laying around? Or maybe just an extra pair of willing hands? The Boys and Girls Club of Hopkins County can put ’em to good use - all of them.
“The Boys and Girls Club is looking for used lawn mowers, shovels, hoes, and other tools to buff up the club,” said Jessica Vaculik, dance and club instructor. “Hand tools, mowers, whatever they have to donate, we’ll take anything in good condition.”
The tools will be used at the Boys & Girls Club, located inside the old Houston School on College Street, for outside improvements. Smaller tools will be used by the Boys & Girls Club members for a landscaping class project during the summer session.
“Camp this summer starts June 8, so we want to start gathering things now so we’ll have them when we start,” Vaculik said.
The club always has room for volunteers to help with facilities work, mentoring or in classes with the kids. The landscaping project will be no exception. Anyone willing to lend a hand to help improve the look outside the club or with the kids during the class is also welcome.
