The SB Family, Career and Community Leaders of America will be hosting a Smoked Chicken & Sausage Dinner fundraiser this Sunday, March 29, at Sulphur Bluff Community Center.
The event is from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Sunday, just the right time to stop in after church or for a noon meal. Sunday’s menu includes smoked chicken, sausage, coleslaw, beans, potato salad, and various desserts with tea and water to drink.
Price is by donation, and proceeds help raise funds so the FCCLA students who earned the right to advance can attend the state contest and conference in Corpus Christi in April.
At the Region III FCCLA Leadership Meeting, the SB Star Events team consisting of Jackson Dailey and Ester Marquez earned first place for their Focus on Children Project, while Minerva Marquez and Jackie Blake took top honors in life event planning. Dustin Lawson and Michelle Davila earned second place honors for entrepreneurship. Jaime Formoso and Ashley Hale were both also recognized for their third place individual finishes, Formoso in fashion design and Hale in illustrated talk at the regional meet.
STAR Events (Students Taking Action for Recognition) and Proficiency Events are competitive events in which members will participate at the regional meeting. These events allow members to showcase their life skills in different areas of competition.
