Franklin Coy Kuhl Jr., 49, of Brashear, who was wanted in connection with the kidnapping and rape of a 12-year-old girl earlier this week was apprehended in Bossier City, La., about 6 a.m. Friday according to Hopkins County Sheriff’s Office Chief Investigator Lewis Tatum.
Tatum said deputies, Sgt. Brad Cummings and Cpl. Dennis Findley, had been in contact with Kuhl’s wife and with Kuhl during the week.
“They were trying to talk him back to our area or to turn himself in but he hadn’t quite made it yet. We did finally locate him in the Bossier City area this morning and, in a short time, Bossier City authorities had him in custody on a Hopkins County warrant alleging human trafficking.”
The chief investigator also credited Communications Supervisor Ron Lowery for being able to located the wanted man in Bossier City.
Tatum also said he had been in contact with the Texas Parole Board and a “blue warrant” for violating parole has been issued for Kuhl.
Earlier this week, on Tuesday, Investigator Daniel Winn deputies had been contacted Monday by school authorities after the victim had made an outcry.
Investigators believe that Kuhl had taken the girl from her residence to a hotel in a nearby city, raped and brought her back home.
As deputies were beginning their investigation, officers theorize Kuhl fled to another state.
Winn, according to Investigator Winn, Kuhl has an extensive criminal history.
Tatum said Kuhl is expected to be returned to Hopkins County early next week to face human trafficking charges.
