Hopkins County Sheriff's investigators are asking for help from the public in locating a 50-year-old Hopkins County man wanted in connection with the kidnapping and sexual assault of a 14-year-old girl, according to Investigator Daniel Winn. “We believe that the suspect is Franklin Coy Kuhl Jr. — he goes by Coy. He is a 50-year-old white male and has an extensive criminal history,” Winn said. “We do have a warrant for him for trafficking of persons. We believe he is aware of law enforcement involvement in the case, and we believe he is trying to run.” Winn said school officials notified officers of the rape Monday. “We were alerted by a school that she had made an outcry,” Winn said. “Her outcry was a family friend they were living with had taken her from her home in Brashear and drove her to a motel in Greenville, where he sexually assaulted her.” The deputy said the girl was taken from the house and told she was going to see another girl. “She was taken from the house under the ruse that she was going to go with him to hang out with his boss' daughter in Kaufman County, and she was okay with that,” the investigator said. “They arrived at the hotel in Greenville. Of course, she was scared and didn't know what was going on, and that's where he sexually assaulted her and he brought her home.” Winn said the girl was now safe at home. Kuhl is described as a white male, five feet, six inches tall, bald and weighs about 160 pounds. He also has tattoos on his left hand, upper right arm, upper left arm, back and chest. He is believed to be driving a late 1990s model or early 2000s model candy-apple red Chevrolet Cavalier. “We want to get the word out Kuhl is wanted in connection with the kidnapping and rape of a 14-year-old girl.” Winn said. “He is considered extremely dangerous — we do not know if he is armed. If you see him, do not make any attempt to detain him — call 911 immediately. He knows that we are looking for him and he is running. He is a predator.”
