Both incumbents on the Yantis Independent School District Board of Trustees filed candidate applications Monday to run in the May 10 trustee election.

Incumbent Dwayne Attaway is completing his second consecutive term on the board and is hoping to serve a third. He currently serves as president of the school board.

Incumbent Kay Glenn is completing her first full term on the board and is seeking a second.

As of Tuesday morning, no challengers had filed to run for the two at-large full term seats on Yantis school board. If no other candidates file by the Feb. 28 close of filing, the incumbents will be awarded the spots as the same number of candidates filed as seats available; thus, no election would be needed.

Candidate applications for the two trustee seats on YISD’s board can be obtained from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. weekdays through Friday, Feb. 28, from in the superintendent’s office.

The election will be conducted from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday, May 10, in the foyer at Imogene Glenn Elementary School on the YISD campus. Early voting by personal appearance will be conducted from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.  Monday-Friday, April 28-May 6,  in the YISD superintendent’s office.
