SSISD: Public hearing on academic performance on board agenda

Sulphur Springs school board tonight will hold a public hearing regarding the school’s academic performance rating for the 2012-13 school year, then receive an update on the district’s accountability improvement plan.

All districts are required to have a public hearing to allow people, if they wish, to sign up to speak about the district report during the public forum portion of the board meeting.

School trustees during the 6 p.m. meeting Monday will be asked to approve:

  • Minutes from the January meeting;
  • Consent agenda, which includes tax credits and supplements, delinquent tax collections, and financial statements and bills payable for January 2014;
  • A district emergency management plan, which will be presented by Sherry Chester at the meeting;
  • Amend the school calendar, as recommended by Superintendent Mike Lamb;
  • A resolution designating March March 3-7 as Public Schools Week in Sulphur Springs Independent School District;
  • A notice to call for the May 10 trustee election as required and appointment of an election judge, as recommended by election officer Sandra Gibby; and
  • Budget amendments for September 2013-January 2014, to be presented by Business Manager Sherry McGraw.
  • The board at the end of the meeting will convene in executive session to discuss personnel and property matters. The board at the conclusion of the closed session will the reconvene in open session to vote on any items pushed forward for action from that session.

The board meets at 6 p.m. the second Monday of each month in the board room of SSISD Administration Building, 631 Connally St.
