Third candidate files for position on school board

    Sulphur Springs Independent School District trustees race is contested as of Friday afternoon, when a third canidate filed to run for one of the two full-term at-large seats on the school board.

    Robbin Vaughn, a probation officer, handed in her application to SSISD Election Officer Sandra Gibby, officially making her the third candidate to file for a slot on the May 10 trustees ballot.
    Robert Cody, a corporate controller for Grocery Supply Company, filed his candidacy Thursday.
    They challenge incumbent Tammy Cooper, who filed Wednesday, for the two slots on the board. She’s seeking a second term on the board.
    Jacquelyn Brice is currently serving in the other seat to be determined in May, but had not filed for reelection Friday.
    Candidate filing for the two seats on SSISD Board of Education will continue during regular business hours Monday through Friday, through Friday, Feb. 28. Applications are available from SSISD school Elections Officer Sandra Gibby in the tax office inside SSISD Administration Building, 631 Connally St.
