Dangerous Fire Conditions

E-mail Print PDF

Due to high winds, low relative humidity and lack of rain fall in the extended weather forecasts, all Hopkins County residents are asked not burn anything outdoors. In the last several days Hopkins County Fire Departments have stayed very busy responding to multiple large wind driven grass fires.
Residents are asked not to burn if not absolutely necessary. If you must burn we are asking that you contact the aheriff's office at 903-885-2768 and advise them of your location and that you will be burning. Also residents are urged not leave fires unattended and to have immediate access to water and communications such as a cell phone to report an out of control fire as quickly as possible.
If you have any questions answered please contact Hopkins County Fire Chief T. Kevin Yates at the Monday thru Friday 9 A.M. to 5 P.M. at 903-439-6217.
