Those individuals who are out of high school, but who still need to pass one or more portion of the Texas Assessment of Knowledge and Skills Exit Level test, will have another opportunity to take the test in March. This also includes test-takers who did not pass the former TAAS and TEAMS exams.

Registration for the tests is strictly online for the March 3-6 administration at Sulphur Springs High School. To take the test, examinees must register at www.texasassessment.com/taksoos by 5 p.m. Friday, Jan. 10, 2014. This is strictly for “out of school students; current SSHS students do not need to register, notes Sulphur Springs Independent School District Director of Human Resources and Communications Rusty Harden.
The March 2014 TAKS exit level tests will be administered as follows: English language arts on March 3, mathematics March 4, science March 5 and social studies March 6.
“Since the TAAS tests are no longer being administered, former TAAS examinees (including former TEAMS examinees) will take the appropriate part of the TAKS exit level English language arts and/or mathematics test(s). The administration of the TAKS tests for former TAAS examinees will be March 3, 2014, English language arts writing; March 4, 2014, mathematics; and March 5, 2014, English language arts reading. TAKS scores will be matched to the appropriate TAAS passing standard,” Harden noted in a press release.
Test takers should arrive at SSHS 30 minutes before the designated  8 a.m. testing time on the designated day of testing for the exam they have registered to take. They must present picture identification, such as a driver’s license, Department of Public Safety identification, military ID, school ID or resident alien card to test. Without a photo ID, they will not be allowed to take the test(s).
Makeup testing is not available for this testing cycle. Students or parents who have questions regarding eligibility or test administration may contact Testing Coordinator Carla Owens at Sulphur Springs High School by calling 903-885-2158, ext. 2222.
