Christmas Events

  •  Christmas in the Park, Saturday, Nov. 30, and Friday, Dec. 6, at Heritage Park, from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Cost is $3 per person, with children under 7 free.
  • Regal Foxie Fillies of the Red Hat Society will sing Christmas carols downtown at 10 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 5, while they are dressed in “Charles Dickens” era costumes. All are invited to join in during the 30-minute performance of old and favorite songs.  Betty Holden and Margaret Bays will lead the Red Hat choir.
  • The Lights of Life campaign tree lighting is scheduled for 6 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 5, at the Gardens at Memorial Hospital.
  • Lions Club Parade of Lights will  get rolling at 5:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 6, leaving from Buford Park. The Chamber of Commerce office, at the intersection of Connally and Davis streets, has entry forms and rules.
  • Christmas on the Square will start downtown at 5:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 6. There will be a tree lighting, snow slide, white tigers, petting zoo, bounce houses, pony rides and vendors.
  • The North East Texas Choral Society will perform their annual Christmas concert, “Joy to the World,” three times over the weekend. The performances are scheduled for 7:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 6, at Lake Fork Baptist Church; 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 7, at the Hopkins County Regional Civic Center; and 2 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 8, at the Civic Center.
  • Echo Publishing will take free photos with Santa Claus at the News-Telegram office, 401 Church St., from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 7.
  • The Sulphur Springs High School Choir Concert is scheduled for 7 p.m. Monday, Dec. 9, at the Civic Center.
