Freeze Warning Issued

E-mail Print PDF

The National Weather Service has issued a freeze warning for all of North Texas, including Hopkins County, starting tonight. The freeze is in effect from 9 p.m. Tuesday to 10 a.m. Wednesday.

A freeze warning means that the season’s first episode of sub-freezing temperatures are likely to occur.

Temperatures are expected to drop into the low to mid 20s north of a line from Eastland to Athens with the exception of the immediate Dallas Fort Worth Metroplex, where temperatures will drop into the upper 20s. South of the line temperatures are expect to drop into the upper 20s to low 30s.

Unprotected tender vegetation will be damaged or killed at these temperatures, thus action should be taken to protect them. Exposed pipes and sprinkler systems may freeze; turn them off to avoid creating icy patches on or near roads, driveways and sidewalks.

Don’t forget about outdoor pets, as they may need additional protection from the frigid temperatures.
