The National Weather Service has issued a Flash Flood Watch Wednesday through Thursday morning for Hopkins and surrounding counties, and the watch may be expanded later if needed.

A strong storm system is expected to move through North Texas during the day Wednesday into Wednesday night. Conditions have become favorable for a band of persistent showers and thunderstorms to develop across north texas into the arklatex.
Rainfall totals of 3 to 5 inches with isolated heavier amounts can be expected through Thursday morning. At this time, it appears that the heaviest rainfall will occur across a fairly narrow area.
The NWS warns excessive runoff may lead to flooding of creeks, small streams and urban areas. Do not drive into areas where water covers the road.
