Hopkins County 4-H member Morgan Mayers was recently honored at the District 4-H Gold Star Reception, held on Saturday, Oct. 19. The Gold Star award is the highest honor given on the county and district level.
Mayers has been a 4-H member for six years and has participated in livestock judging, public speaking, and foods projects. Mayers also helped in hosting a group of 4-H members from Eau Claire, Wis., during the summer. She is the daughter of Ruthie and Gary Mayers. Her brother, Jace, is also an active 4-H member.
Billy and Marsha Branch were also recognized as Outstanding 4-H Leaders on the county and district level.
The Branches have hosted several horse and shooting sports projects, and have supported the 4-H program by attending council meetings, assisting with special events such as National 4-H Week, 4-H Project Tour Days, and hosting the 4-H members from Eau Claire, Wis.
