Longtime Hopkins County District Clerk Patricia Dorner said Wednesday that she would not be seeking another term in the office she has held for the past 23 years.
“Although I enjoy my work and have worked with fine judges, commissioners and other agencies as well as my office clerks, I have decided to spend time with my family,” Dorner said. “I would like to thank the citizens of Hopkins County who have supported me throughout the years and who I have strived to serve.”
Prior to becoming district clerk, Dorner worked as a deputy district clerk for five and a half years.
During her terms in office, she has seen many changes: from manual posting in ledger books and receipts to a modernized computer system.
“The district clerk's office has grown in the numbers of cases filed and in the paper volume,” she said. “Daily, we image the documents filed so the courts and the public can have immediate access to all our cases and visual access to all documentation. Our older cases are imaged to laser fiche.”
