Sulphur Springs Public Library will host An Afternoon with the Author Wednesday, Oct. 16, from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. This month’s featured writer is Gwendolyn Schroth. Light refreshments will be served.

Schroth, the daughter of missionaries, was shifted between disparate cultures of the United States and India. Her book, “Curry, Corduroy and The Call,” details the experiences she encountered during her childhood.
According to a press release, “Gwendolyn’s formative years were influenced by the necessary separation from her parents on the one hand and the companionship and guidance from her sisters and classmates on the other. The family fled India during World War II but returned shortly after the close of the war, only to be caught up in India’s fight for independence.”
Schroth has a doctorate in educational administration and has authored and co-authored a number of books in that field.
   The event is free.
