Tanner Crump said Wednesday he would be a candidate for the office of Justice of the Peace Pct. 1 in the March 2014 Republican primary election.
Crump has served as a deputy sheriff for Hopkins County for the past eight years, the last five as patrol sergeant.
In announcing his candidacy, Crump said retiring Justice of the Peace Yvonne King is leaving some big shoes to fill.
"Without a doubt Judge King has raised the bar for whoever is elected to fill her shoes,” Crump said. “I am excited and honored to prayerfully announce my candidacy intentions as Republican nominee for Justice of the Peace, Precinct 1. My ambitions are to uphold and exceed the standard that has been set by my predecessors to my fullest capability. I believe that my integrity, experience, heart, discernment, love of community, leadership and organizational skills will equip me to be the best candidate for the position."
Tanner Crump and his wife Ashley have two children, Alli, 6, and Dani-Kate, 18 months. His mother is Janie Crump.
