Sulphur Springs school trustees Monday night will be in for a special treat; five district students will open the 6 p.m. school board meeting by leading pledges to the state and national flags.
Sulphur Springs Middle School sixth grader Tucker Walt, son of Kimberly Allen, will lead the pledge to the American flag. The Texas flag will be lead by four transitional first students from Early Childhood Learning Center: Graci Adiar, daughter of Justin and Shelley Adair; Benjamin Lovelady, son of Aaron and Danette Lovelady; Kendri Roberts, daughter of Kayla Anderson; and Lucas Shirley, son of Anna Sandoval and Michael Shirley.
Trustees during the meeting will be asked to consider approving the proposed teacher appraisers and calendar for 2013-2014, as well as the consent agenda which includes investment and tax reports, financial statements and bill, payable for August and six routine Head Start documents.
Sulphur Springs Independent School District Director of Elementary Education Betty Lawson is scheduled to present a report on student enrollment trends, tracking district and campus student census counts for the fall semester as recorded over the last six years. The board will also receive minutes from the May and July Head Start Policy Council meetings.
The board is scheduled to hold an executive session, during which they can discuss personnel and real property items presented for board discussion and attention. Trustees will then reconvene in open session to take action, if needed, regarding those items discussed during the closed session.
The board also is slated to participate in a goal setting work session during the Sept. 9 meeting, which begins at 6 p.m. in the board room of SSISD Administration Building.
