Sulphur Springs' glass restrooms on the downtown plaza have been ranked in the Top 10 Restrooms in the Nation in Cintas' 12th Annual America's Best Restroom Contest.
The local restrooms join names like the Waldorf Astoria in New York, Garden State Plaza in Paramus, N.J., Alex Madonna Gold Rush Steak House, The Sporting House Bar and Grill in Las Vegas, Tampa (Fla.) International Airport and four other top-notch restrooms in the nation as finalists.
City Manager Marc Maxwell said he was flushed with excitement, but not surprised the unique restrooms are in the top 10 nationwide.
“Of course we are not surprised by it, but we are excited,” he said. “The promotion will begin soon. Official voting begins on Aug. 24, and we will make sure that the press has all the information on where to go vote, and we will promote it heavily.”
Maxwell said competing with names such as Waldorf Astoria is, in itself, something to be proud of.
“I'm glad to be considered in the same sentence with the Waldorf Astoria,” he said.
On Cintas' Internet website, www.bestrestroom.com/us/, the company said, “The reality is that restrooms matter to the public. How a business maintains its facilities is a reflection of a business' commitment to customer service.
“Now, a growing number of companies are going the extra mile to create the most memorable restrooms imaginable, and we are recognizing those establishments with Cintas' America's Best Restroom® award. Cintas is on a mission to locate America's porcelain pioneers who are taking dramatic steps to create unforgettable facilities.”
Online voting to select the best restroom in the nation will begin on Aug. 24 and Maxwell urged everyone to vote and help to make Sulphur Springs' glass restrooms the clear winner in the nation-wide contest.
