Work on the last section of State Highway 154 south got under way this week, with the planned completion of the project set for August 2014.
Plans are to reconstruct the roadway from a two-lane without shoulders to a two-lane with shoulders and will include widening and reconstructing, grading, structures, subgrade stabilization, treated flexible base, untreated flexible base and pavement markings.
The area to be rebuilt is between FM 1567 to County Road 1104.
The contractor, D.L Lennon, has 457 working days to complete the $6.6 million project that completes a series of projects to make that stretch of SH 154 a much safer roadway for the increasing number of motorists daily.
