Just because classes at most Sulphur Springs campuses are out for the summer doesn’t mean the halls are empty or school business has shut down. In fact, Monday was just another day on some campuses.
Travis Primary and Sulphur Springs Middle School were both open bright and early this week for students enrolled in summer school classes.
Bilingual English and English as a second language summer school for students entering kindergarten and first grade are being held Monday-Thursday, from 8 a.m. to 3:15 p.m. through July 11 at Travis Primary, with the exception of bus riders, who depart at noon.
Elementary summer school classes are being held at Travis from 8 a.m. to noon Monday-Thursday through July 11. Summer school for fifth graders is from 8 a.m. to noon Monday-Thursday through June 26 and the fifth grade STAAR retests will be June 25-26, also at Travis Primary.
The summer child nutrition program, which offers breakfast from 7:45 a.m. to 8:30 a.m. and lunch from 10:45 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Monday-Thursday through July 11, is free to any youth up to age 18 at Travis.
SSMS is hosting summer school for middle school students from 8 a.m. to noon Monday-Thursday through July 3. The eighth grade STAAR retest will be administered at the campus June 25-26.
High School will be hosting end of course (EOC) reviews Monday-Thursday June 17-July 3. Exit level TAKS retesting will be conducted July 8-12 and STAAR EOC retesting will be July 8-19.
TAKs reviews are slated June 17-July 3 and credit recovery from June 17 through July 24, Monday-Thursday.
All campuses will be closed for students and staff on Thursday, July 4.
