Gallegos earned the top honor with a 92.75 grade point average. She is the daughter of Thomas and Honorina Gallegos.
She has been very active in academic UIL and sports. She competed in calculator, math, number sense and dictionary skills UIL contests in both seventh and eight grades. In seventh grade, Gallegos competed in one additional UIL event — maps, graphs and charts.
Gallegos was on the school basketball team in both seventh and eighth grades. This year, as an eighth grader, she also ran cross country and participated in track.
The Saltillo 8th grade valedictorian also remained on the AB Honor Roll both years.
Kaili Carr was named salutatorian based on ehr 91.68 GPA. She is the daughter of Bron Carr and Donette Carr.
The salutatorian was also active in UIL and other school activities.
Carr competed in listening skills and dictionary skills both years. She was recognized for her fifth place win in dictionary skills and sixth place win in listening skills this year.
She has also been a school cheerleader during her seventh and eighth grade years.
In seventh grade Carr was noted for remaining on the AB Honor Roll. This year she was a Fall Carnival walker and on the Junior High crown.
Gallegos, Carr and the other members of the Saltillo 8th grade class — Logan Camp, Melissa Groenewold, Madelyn Kearney, Brooke McClure, Dakota Patridge, Breanna Reynolds, Caitlin Shelby, Mariah Moore, Kaylee Whitson, Clayton Wilson, Keagan Genzer, Destiny Welch, Rainie English, Brenda Castro, Brianna Harvick, Daniel Saxon, Adam Valenzuela, Cindia Hernandez, Madison Logan, Kendall Hayley, Breanna Considine, Aaron Hernandez and Kaitlyn Jone — will be honored at 7 p.m. Thursday, June 6, with a graduation ceremony in Kerry W. Harmon Gymnasium at the school.
