Several local businesses and agencies are collecting items and funds to assist in recovery and response efforts in West. Below are a couple who have reported those items to the News-Telegram.

Bargain Bail Bonds in Sulphur Springs and La La Hair Boutique in Lone Oak are holding a raffle for six tickets to the May 11 Kenny Chesney/Eric Upchurch concert in Dallas, with proceeds benefiting the fire departments and emergency responders in West. Raffle tickets are available until 4 p.m. Sunday, April 28, for $1 each or six for $5 at Bargain Bail Bond, 427 Rosemont St. in Sulphur Springs, 903-885-8585, or La La Hair, Highway 69 in Lone Oak, 903-634-4050. BBB will also accept credit cards for raffle orders of $20 or more. One winner gets all six concert tickets. The drawing will be at 6 p.m. April 28. The winner will be notified by phone. The winner will also be posted on Cindy Horton and Sherry Gallagher’s Facebook pages.

Hopkins County AgriLife Extension and 4-H programs also are contributing to the effort.

Johanna Hicks, Extension agent, reports that their 4-H clubs launched collection efforts Thursday. They were told Friday that West officials were asking for no more items be donated due to the overwhelming response they have already received. However, the agencies providing supplies report they are beginning to run low. So, Extension and 4-H are encouraging members to take water, sunscreen, lip balm, medical supplies and items of that nature to the Red Cross drop-off on the Guaranty Bond Bank parking lot between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m. Saturday, April 20, to help provide these items for future needs in West.
