Three judging teams from Sulphur Springs High School placed high enough at the Future Farmers of America Area VI Career Development Education Contest held April 9 at Texas A&M University-Commerce to advance to the state contests. Six students were also noted to be among the top scoring individuals in their category.
The dairy judging team consisting of Taylor Swinson, Hunter Allen, Heath Howard and Chase Koon qualified to advance to the state meet. Swinson was also the second high point individual and Hunter Allen the 13th high point individual. The state dairy judging contest will be held April 18 at Tarleton State University.
The floriculture team consisting of Sarah Halter, Rebecca Halter, Keairra Givens and Katia Fralin will advance to the state contest May 3 at Sam Houston State University. Rebecca Halter was the seventh high point individual and Sarah Halter was the ninth high point individual.
The veterinary medicine team qualified to compete May 4 at the state contest at Texas A&M University. The group consists of Reilly Hale, Kara Findley, Kaitlin Maddox and Karla Garcia. Hale had the second highest total among individuals, and Findley was the fourth high point individual.
