Information from an informant in Cooper early Wednesday resulted in a search warrant and a raid on a Cooper residence a short time later, according to Chief Deputy Sheriff Don Willingham.
“Apparently they had an informant come in here to the office,” he said. “We arrested four people Wednesday afternoon at approximately 4 p.m. at a residence in Cooper for possession and sale of methamphetamines.”
Willingham identified those arrested as Cecil Duckworth, Michael Duckworth, Randy Hargrave and Cynthia Smith,
“All of them are charged with possession of controlled substance with $30,000 bond each,” Willingham said. “They are all Cooper residents.”
The chief deputy said that Cecil Duckworth was on parole and his office has notified the Texas Department of Criminal Justice of the arrest.
The arrests were made by Delta County Sheriff's Office with assistance from Sulphur Springs Tactical Unit and Special Crimes Unit investigators.
“Special thanks to these guys who helped set this thing up and run through this thing,” Willingham said.
The chief deputy said he felt the Wednesday bust would have significant impact on a major drug problem in Cooper and Delta County.
“This is just the tip of the ice berg,” he said. “We are actively working this stuff pretty hard and the task force is providing great assistance up here and, yes, this is the start of it and I think it will continue to go on more and I'm hoping that this may clear out this whole problem up here.”
