It’s finally here. Gala Week at Sulphur Springs Public Library begins Monday, March 2, and the week’s events promise something for everyone.
Featured activities include a book sale, silent auction, an “Evening with the Author,” caterer and motivational speaker Teri Sawyer and the annual catered luncheon with guest speaker Mark Mitchell, according to library director Cheryl Lawson.
A book sale kicks things off at 10 a.m. Monday, followed by the start of the popular silent auction at noon.
This year’s “Evening with the Author” is set for Thursday, March 5, from 6:30 p.m. until 7:30 p.m., and features Teri Sawyer, author of “Delicious by Design.”
“We are very much looking forward to having Teri joining for this year's gala celebration,” said Lawson. “Teri is an accomplished author and caterer who resides in Tyler. She works her charms to not only create wonderfully scrumptious desserts in as little as eight minutes, but also entertains with humor and a great sense of fun.”
Topping off the week’s activities will be a catered luncheon on Friday, March 6, with guest speaker Mark Mitchell, author of “Raising la Belle: The Story of the LaSalle Shipwreck.”
“Raising La Belle” interweaves highlights of one of America’s most exciting archeological finds along with the story of Texas’ lost French colony.
Both authors will have copies of their books available for purchase.
There is a $1 non-refundable admittance charge for the book sale and silent auction. Tickets for the evening with Sawyer are $5. Tickets for the book sale, auction and evening with Sawyer will be available at the door.
Tickets for the luncheon are $10. Pre-purchase of luncheon tickets is requested so the caterer will have an accurate head count.
