Deputies and troopers carried about a dozen college-age adults to jail late Saturday night as a result of or in connection with an underage drinking party on County Road 1157.
Hopkins County Sheriff’s Office was contacted twice Saturday night by people complaining of loud music and noises, possibly a party, on that county road.
At 11:35 p.m., deputies and a trooper en route to the area stopped a Ford Focus on CR 1157 at CR 1158 for a traffic violation. A probable cause search revealed a large bag of marijuana, numerous items of drug paraphernalia and two 30-packs of Bud Light beer in the car. All six occupants — a 19-year-old Antioch, Calif., man, two 19-year-old Winnsboro men, a 19- year-old Pickton man, an 18-year-old Como man and a 20-year-old Como woman — were arrested for possession of marijuana, possession of alcohol by a minor and possession of drug paraphernalia. The Pickton man was also charged on a Sulphur Springs warrant for consumption of alcohol by a minor, troopers and deputies noted on arrest reports.
The six, according to sheriff’s information, were thought to have likely been involved at or headed to what deputies at 11:48 p.m. reported was an underage drinking party at the CR 1157 residential property. The sheriff’s officers reported they had encountered several juveniles at the property in consumption of alcoholic beverages.
A 20-year-old Southlake woman was at the location consuming alcohol. She gave deputies permission to search her purse. They found two white pills believed to be hydrocodone and one other unidentified pill, according to arrest reports. The Southlake woman was taken to jail for possession of a controlled substance and minor in consumption of alcohol.
A 19-year-old Dike woman gave deputies permission to search her purse and vehicle. They found a “very small” amount of weed and other drug paraphernalia, resulting in her arrest for possession of drug paraphernalia.
After obtaining permission from the owner of a blue BMW, deputies searched his car. They found marijuana and rolling papers like those used for rolling marijuana cigarettes. The 18- year-old Fort Worth car owner was arrested for possession of drug paraphernalia, too.
A Denton man, 18, was arrested for disorderly conduct. He was sitting outside a residence and “recklessly exposed his penis ... in front of 33 other people, including females.” He was warned multiple times about it and eventually arrested, according to arrest reports.
A Wylie man, 20, was arrested near his Buick for possession of drug paraphernalia; he also had two large bottles of liquor in his car and was issued a citation for minor in consumption.
An Alvin man, 18, was arrested for resisting arrest, minor in consumption and possession of drug paraphernalia. When asked, he refused to let officers search his vehicle, became irate when officers attempted to handcuff him and take him into custody for minor in consumption. He began resisting officers’ efforts. He was put on the ground, handcuffed and put in a patrol vehicle. Suspected weed and rolling papers were found in the floorboard by him, officers noted on arrest reports.
