The proposed 2013-2014 school calendar and the high school tennis complex construction project are among the topics on the agenda for Monday night’s regular meeting of Sulphur Springs school trustees.
Administrative reports will include an update on the tennis complex construction project presented by Von Gallagher, presentation of local policy updates as recommended by Texas Association of School Boards, a budget calendar and submission of three Head Start reports. Sulphur Springs Independent School District Assistant Superintendent Randy Reed will present TASB Policy Update 96. Sherry McGraw, district business manager, will discuss the budget calendar.
Trustees will be asked to approve the calendar drafted by a district committee for the 2013-2014 school year which would have classes starting Aug. 27 and ending June 4, with high school graduation June 6 and a week-long holiday at Thanksgiving.
Also up for board approval Monday is a Head Start refunding applicant, presented by HS Director Hillary Young; addition of DMA(Local) policy, which has to do with professional and required staff development; purchase of the Skyward student information system, a web-based data management system to streamline classroom student data and improve communication between the district, students and parents; and the consent agenda which includes investment, tax and financial reports for February.
In executive session, the school board is scheduled to consider one-year contract extensions for administrators currently under one-and two-year contracts. This includes the assistant superintendent, directors, principals and assistant principals. The board would also have the option of discussing any other personnel or property matters recommended by the superintendent. Trustee would then reconvene in open session to take any action on those items if needed.
The board meeting will begin at 6 p.m. March 18 in the board room of SSISD Administration Building, 631 Connally St.
