Contested races for all three positions on the Como City Council developed by the close of the filing period at 5 p.m. Friday, with two people running for mayor, two for the street commissioner seat and three for the water commissioner seat.
Incumbent Como Mayor Jerry Radney is seeking another term in that office and will be opposed by former mayor Roy Darby, Como fire chief.
The street commissioner position on the three-person council, currently held by Don Meeks, will also be a contested race with Meeks seeking reelection. JoAnna Darby is challenging Meeks for the street commissioner post. JoAnna Darby is daughter-in-law to mayoral candidate Roy Darby.
Three people have filed for the water commissioner position on the Como council. Michael Corley and Darren Harris are challenging incumbent Philip Kincaid for the post.
The municipal election will be held Saturday, May 11.
