Como-Pickton Parent Teacher Organization is looking for a few adult volunteers from the community to join them as they embark on several upcoming projects.

“Good events are on-going at Como-Pickton CISD. Please help us make them even better  by sharing your time, talent or donations with our PTO,” C-P physical education teacher Saundea Monk, special education teacher Cydney Williams and Assistant Superintendent Lydia Walden urged in a press release dated Feb. 4 and mailed on behalf of PTO and staff.

The level and type of role of each contributor will vary depending on the individual’s strengths, talents, abilities, time availability and project.

Como-Pickton PTO hopes to tackle and take on several projects in the future, some are annual favorites such as the annual bingo and others bigger projects. They donate food and treats for Teacher Appreciation Week, help with school beautification projects and donate prizes to the Eagle Bucks Store for all grade levels. PTO is also environmentally friendly, collecting certain recyclable rewards items to benefit the school, including Box Tops For Education, soda tabs, Capri Sun or Kool-Aid Jammer pouches. Bigger projects they hope to facilitate or at least contribute to are the purchase of signs with each campus’ name on it, adding covered sitting areas and playground equipment, and providing supplies and computer equipment for classrooms.

Volunteer guidelines area available from the C-P Elementary secretary by call 903-488-3671, ext. 4020. They do note that while all volunteers are required to complete three forms and must pass a background check, those contributors’ efforts will be rewarded in the service they provide to their community and won’t go unnoticed.

“The time, talent and/or resources you provide would be greatly appreciated,” the letter notes.

To volunteer, contact the elementary secretary.
