Sulphur Springs High School students and those who are “out-of-school” but still need to pass one or more section of the Texas Assessment of Knowledge and Skills Exit Level test will have an opportunity to do so in March.
Out-of-school students, those no longer in high school but who have yet to pass one or more section of the TAKS exit level tests, are asked to contact the school before the testing day to register for the retest. Out-of-school students who have met all other graduation requirements except for passing the retest, can potentially obtain their high school diploma upon passing all sections of the test.
The TAKS exit level retests will be administered each day beginning March 4, with a different test each day through March 7, at Sulphur Springs High School, 1200 Connally St. On Monday, March 4, the English language arts test will be given, the math test will follow on Tuesday, March 5, science on Wednesday, March 6, and social studies on Thursday, March 7.
All tests will begin at 8 a.m. on the designated class day for each retest, and there will be no make up testing available for this testing cycle.
Out-of-school testers should report to the SSHS campus library with a photo ID in order to register and/or take the exit level tests. They should also plan to arrive no later than 7:45 a.m. on the date of the test, according to Sulphur Springs Independent School District testing and PEIMS coordinator Connie Johnson.
If students or parents have questions regarding eligibility, test administration or tutoring, they should contact SSHS testing coordinator Carla Owens at the high school at 903-885-2158, ext. 2222.
