As of 11 a.m. Friday, two incumbents had filled out their paperwork to run as candidates for the three seats on the May 11 ballot for the Sulphur Springs Independent School District Board of Education.
John Prickette filed for candidacy shortly after the filing period opened Wednesday morning, and Kerry Wright filed late Wednesday afternoon. Prickette is seeking his first full term on the school board. He was appointed in January 2012 to serve the remaining 15 months of board member Foy Williams’ term on the board.
Wright is seeking a second full term on the school board. He was appointed in 2009 to serve the remainder of Carolyn Thomas’ term as trustee. He was then one of only three to sign up as trustee candidates for three seats on the board in the May 2010 election.
Wright is the president of Copy Products Imaging Inc. in Sulphur Springs. He is currently serving his second year as vice president of the board. He has also served as school board secretary.
The third seat on the board to be determined in the May 11 election is held by Clay Johnson. He was first elected to the school board in 2007.
Filing for candidacy for the three at-large three-year seats on the school board will continue weekdays during regular business hours through March 1 in the tax office at SSISD Administration Building, 631 Connally St. For more information, contact Judy Gregg, election official in the tax office for more information
