Zoning change requests from two convenience store owners and one from a developer are on the agenda for this evening's Sulphur Springs City Council meeting.
A request from property owner Wayne Cooper to rezone property at the corner of South Hillcrest Drive and Main Street from light commercial to heavy commercial will be heard on second and final reading by the council. Final approval will pave the way for construction on the southeast corner of the intersection.
Joe Bob Burgin is asking the council to rezone property located at 597 League St. from light commercial to heavy commercial for his convenience store at that address.
A similar request from Henry Booker will be heard for a convenience store at 1401 College St.
The council is also set to address on first reading an ordinance amending an ordinance providing for allowable land uses in the central commercial district.
The city council meeting will convene at 7 p.m. today in the Council Room, 125 South Davis St.
