A seminar for people with a desire to start their own business and a beginning arc welding class will be offered at the Paris Junior College-Sulphur Springs Center during the month of March, according to Linda Bennett, director of the higher education center.

“How to Start Your Own Business” is for anyone who has ever dreamed of owning a business. The seminar will be presented from 9 a.m. to noon on Friday, March 13. Topics to be covered include forms of business ownership, developing a business plan, creating a marketing plan, getting legal advice, taxes, advertising and much more. One hour of the seminar will be a demonstration of Simple Start, an easy-to-use record-keeping system for small businesses.

A Beginning Arc Welding class will meet from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. each Tuesday, March 3 through May 12. This class covers the theory of and introduction to the shielded metal arc welding (SMAW) processes. Skill in the welding process and the selection of materials and equipment will be stressed. Students will need to furnish their own helmet, glasses and gloves.

To register for these classes, call 903-885-1232, or stop by the Center, located at 1202 West Houston St.
