The deadline for children to submit their letters to Santa has been extended to Monday, Dec. 17, to make sure all Hopkins County children get those letters emailed in. However, that will be the final day to turn in letters to Santa Claus and be assured they will make it into publication in the News-Telegram.
The News-Telegram is again partnering with Circle E this year to help local children get their letters to Santa while helping raise money for Make-A-Wish Foundation to help grant wishes to area children with life-threatening illnesses. Circle E will also continue accepting letters written to Santa on "The Magic of Christmas" forms published in the News-Telegram through Monday, Dec. 17. All Santa letters submitted, unless otherwise noted, will also be forwarded to Santa and collected for Make-A-Wish to send to Macy’s “A Million Reasons to Believe” campaign. The department store each year pledges up to $1 million to Make-A-Wish, $1 for each letter received. The Northeast Texas division of Make-A-Wish, which includes Hopkins County, will receive credit for the letters collected by the News-Telegram, Circle E and www.mySSnews.com.
Because of the volume of Christmas wish lists forwarded by local children, plese submit all other Santa letters electronically by email or on the company website (www.mySSnews.com) when possible. Letters submitted individually on www.mySSnews (see the Christmas tab on the top menu) will receive a reply letter from Santa when a parent or adult’s email address is included.
As usual, Santa letters will be published in the News-Telegram throughout the month of December as well as in the special Christmas Greetings section published Dec. 24. Due to the time required to prepare these for print, the News-Telegram cannot guarantee any letters received after the Dec. 17 deadline will appear in the newspaper.
