Intervention plans and progress for Bowie Primary and Sulphur Springs Middle School are among the topics to be discussed, and district and special education improvement plans to be considered by Sulphur Springs school board members during Monday’s noon meeting.
Director of Elementary Education Betty Lawson is slated to report on the year one, stage one annual yearly progress intervention plan being implemented at Bowie Primary. Jason Evans, Sulphur Springs Middle School academic specialist, will report on academically unacceptable year one intervention progress at that campus.
Lawson will also present to the board for approval the district continuous improvement plan and district special ed improvement plan.
Administrators are slated to give reports on board member training hours and Sulphur Springs Independent School District Superintendent Michael Lamb will update board members on the college and career readiness meetings he and other administrators have been hosting for parents of students in grades 5-12 and other readiness activities.
Also on the agenda up for board consideration are two resolutions: one to approve the practice of eminent domain and one approving independent sources for investment training for district investment officers.
Several items considered routine matters are being presented for board approval under on consent agenda. They include: bills, tax collections and credits, quarterly and annual investment reports, alternate work schedule/parent participation reimbursement policy, organizational flow charts and long-term goals and short term objectives for Head Start.
The board will meet in executive session at the end of the meeting to consider any personnel or property issues posed or that have developed since the last board meeting. At the end of the closed session, the board will reconvene in open session to approve any items proposed for action as a result of the executive session.
