Yantis Masonic Lodge 382 will host their 22nd Annual Turkey Shoot fund raiser. The event will kick off at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 17, and continue throughout the day until all of the turkeys have been awarded to competing shooters.
This East Texas tradition once again promises a fun-filled day of competition with three different ways to win a Thanksgiving turkey. Shooting events include skeet, .22-caliber rifle and pistol competitions. Shooters will have ample opportunities to compete for and, hopefully take home, a prize turkey this year. Rifle and shotgun shells will be furnished. Those planning to shoot a pistol will need to bring their own shells.
As they have done for the past 22 years, the Masons and their wives will have plenty of mouth-watering food and homemade desserts available for the participants.
The Annual Turkey shoot is the primary fund raiser for Yantis Masonic Lodge. All proceeds from the event will be used by the lodge to provide operating expenses and also fund many worthwhile charities supported by Masons in the Yantis and East Texas area.
“The public is invited, and your attendance will support a very worthwhile cause. While you’re there, make sure to sample some of the delicious food, compete for a turkey, and enjoy the activities as the competition heats up during the day,” said Gordon Krantz, Yantis Masonic Lodge 382 secretary.
This year’s Turkey Shoot will again be held on the Johnny Stephens farm east of Yantis. Directions: from Yantis, take FM 2966 east for 1.3 miles, then turn right on County Road 1840, travel on CR 1840 for 6/10th-of-a-mile. To make it easier for new comers to find, look for the signs.
