A woman was taken into custody Saturday morning after her husband was reported to have been stabbed with an ice pick.
Deputies were dispatched around 9 a.m. to a residence on State Highway 154 south where a man was reported to have been stabbed. After arriving at the residence, officers ascertained the man had an injury to his back.
The woman reportedly was not feeling well this morning and got into an argument with her spouse. The altercation escalated from verbal to physical when the woman picked up an ice pick and stabbed her husband in the back, deputies were told.
The man was taken to Hopkins County Memorial Hospital for treatment, but the injury was not thought to be life-threatening, deputies noted following the woman’s arrest.
The woman had left the location by the time deputies arrived, but she was later detained in a vehicle on SH 154 south near County Road 1211. She was then taken into custody in connection with the stabbing.
No further details were available late Saturday morning. The woman was still being processed into jail, and deputies had yet to complete paperwork related to the case.
A sheriff’s officer was still at the hospital at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, awaiting results of the victim’s medical evaluation, according to sheriff’s reports.
