The third grade spelling team which included Lauren Hudson, Dalton Steward and Shyla Williams, took first place team honors. Individually Hudson took top honors in spelling. Third grader Sydney Spillers was also recognized for her third place finish in ready writing.
Two fourth graders each went home with awards for placing second in their categories, Carissa Perez in number sense and Shelby Sawyer in ready writing.
The fifth grade map, graphs and charts team was recognized for finishing third in the category. Those team members included Brent Brewer, Kyle Densmore and Landon Mabe. Individually, Mabe earned first in maps, graphs and charts, and also earned sixth in listening skills, while Brewer placed fourth in social studies.
Other fifth graders recognized for their individual accomplishments at the Dec. 5 contest included Ashleigh Ashworth, fifth in oral reading; Preston Salinas, fifth spelling; Viviana Ugalde, fifth ready writing; and Tristan White, second oral reading.
The sixth grade calculator appliations team consisting of Kaylee Giles, Alex Sawyer and Broderick Vien earned second place team honors. Individually, Giles placed fifth and Vien second in calculator. Sixth grader Eduardo Sandoval was also recognized for placing sixth in mathematics while classmate Allie Beth Wisdom took sixth in oral reading.
