At least 18 Republican politicos, including U.S. Rep. Ralph Hall and the chairman of the Texas GOP, are scheduled to be in Sulphur Springs Monday evening for a forum at the Hopkins County Regional Civic Center.
The doors will open at 5:30 p.m. for the “Diamonds and Denim Presidents’ Day Candidate Forum,” with a dinner catered by Big Smith Bar-B-Q served at 6 p.m. for $10 a plate.
The keynote speaker will be Texas Republican Party Chairman Steve Munisteri.
Republican Party candidates for federal, state and local offices will speak during the forum.
Confirmed candidates scheduled to be on hand include:
U.S. Rep. Ralph Hall of the 4th Congressional District
Craig James, former SMU and NFL running back and candidate for the U.S. Senate seat held by retiring Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison
State Senatorial District 2 incumbent Bob Deuell and challenger Bob Hall
State Rep. Dan Flynn and challenger George Alexander for the District 3 State Representative seat, which currently includes Hopkins County
Eddie Northcutt, candidate for the Eighth Judicial District Judge slot held by retiring Judge Robert Newsom
State Rep. Erwin Cain of Hopkins County and Will Biard of Lamar County, candidates for 62nd Judicial District Judge
Will Ramsay, candidate for the Eighth Judicial District Attorney seat held by Martin Braddy, who has decided not to seek re-election
