Grand Jury indicts 65 in June session

A Hopkins County Grand Jury signed off on at least 65 indictments against 56 people during its June session. Charges ranged from capital murder, aggravated robbery, theft and retaliation to felony drunk driving and fraud and drug possession. A few people were indicted on more than one offense.

Those indicted included:

* Alfred Lee Pogue, five indictments — retaliation by threatening to kill Sheriff’s Cpl. Corley Weatherford on Feb. 22; retaliation by threatening to kill sheriff’s deputy David Ray on Feb. 22; attempted assault on public servant by attempting to cause bodily injury to sheriff’s deputy Alvin Jordan by kicking at him Feb. 22; and evading arrest by using a vehicle to intentionally flee from deputy Alvin Jordan, who was attempting to arrest or detain the defendant, Feb. 22; burglary of a habitation with intent to commit theft of a pit bull dog Dec. 30, 2010;

* Gerardo Rubio Martinez — driving while intoxicated, third or more offense, April 7

* Raymond Earl Stephens — possession of less than one gram of the controlled substance methamphetamine April 20

* Terry Conner Gay — aggravated assault by striking a male with his fist Nov. 1, 2010

* Deborah Denise Gray — possession of one gram or more but less than 4 grams of the controlled substance methamphetamine, March 8

* Allen Brooks Jr., two indictments — possession of 4 grams or more but less than 400 grams of the controlled substance ecstasy, April 20; possession of one gram or more but less than four grams of the controlled substance cocaine April 20

* Chasity Lynn Richardson — forgery of a check payable to herself in the amount of $250 from a man’s account, Jan. 11

* Gary Lee Gibson — aggravated assault by threatening another man with imminent bodily injury by pointing a gun at the victim and threatening to kill the victim

* Alex Branden Hagood — delivery of five pounds or less but more than one-fourth ounce of marijuana, Oct. 27, 2010; possession of an amount of five pounds or less but more than four ounces of marijuana, Nov. 8, 2010

* Jacob Wayne Petty — fraudulent use or possession of identifying information belonging to another man in order to obtain unemployment benefits in the other man’s name, May 18, 2009

* Evin Ray Darling — possession of less than one gram of the controlled substance methamphetamine, Feb. 23

* William Alston Moore — aggravated assault by striking another male with a pool cue during the commission of an assault, Jan. 29

* Brady Lane Mathews — aggravated assault by striking a man in the head with a beer mug during the commission of an assault, Oct. 12, 2010

* Joshua Scott Morris — aggravated assault by holding a handgun at close range to a woman’s head during the commission of an assault, May 10

* Michael James Brooks — evading arrest by intentionally fleeing from Sulphur Springs Police Officer Justin Darrow, who was attempting to arrest or detain him, Feb. 13

* Ann Jorgenson Patterson — possession of less than one gram of the controlled substance methamphetamine, January 16, 2010

* Sean Mark Smith — possession of less than one gram of the controlled substance methamphetamine, Jan. 16, 2010

* Justin Klein Weale — possession of less than one gram of the controlled substance methamphetamine, July 19, 2010

* Lori Beth Vanderburg — possession of less than one gram of the controlled substance methamphetamine, July 19, 2010

* Cortney Shay Noble — delivery of four grams or more but less than 200 grams of the controlled substance hydrocodone within 1,000 feet of Austin Elementary School, a drug free zone, Feb. 10; delivery of less than 28 grams of the controlled substance containing dihydrocodeinone, within 1,000 feet of Austin Elementary School, a drug free zone, Jan 12

* Rodney Charles Conley —  possession of less than one gram of the controlled substance cocaine, April 1

* Gerald Wayne Fielden Jr. — assault family violence, impeding breathing or circulation of the blood of a female family member by applying pressure to her throat or neck, Aug. 30, 2010

* Edward Devaugh Russell — possession of 400 grams of more of the controlled substance cocaine, Dec. 14, 2010

* Avery Jamell Stevenson — possession of 50 pounds or less but more than 5 pounds of marijuana, dec. 8, 2010

* Terry Lane Massie — possession of 5 pounds or less but more than 4 ounces of marijuana, Dec. 8, 2010

* Parish Andrell Primas — possession of 5 pounds or less but more than 4 ounces of marijuana, Dec. 8, 2010

* Edward Charles Primas Jr. — possession of five pounds or less but more than four ounces of marijuana, Dec. 8, 2010

* Mark Anthony Stone — driving while intoxicated, third or more offense, April 20

* Iran Labrada Palacio — possession of 2,000 pounds or less but more than 50 pounds of marijuana, Aug. 18, 2010

* Dena Ranee Buckley — possession of five pounds or more but less than four ounces of marijuana, Feb. 14

* Jonathon Andrew Arnold — possession of five pounds or less but more than 4 ounces of marijuana, Feb. 14,

* Charlene Johnson Wilson — theft of a firearm, March 10

* Kenneth Earl Vault Jr. — theft of a semi-automatic 9mm handgun, March 10

* Rance Eugene Capp — theft of a 1962 Ford F-100 from a man, April 9

* Layne Lee Glenn — assault family violence of a person with whom the defendant had a dating relationship by striking the victim with his fist and feet, a charge enhanced to a felony offense due to previous convictions of offenses against a member of his family, Feb. 11

* John William Vanholten — evading arrest by fleeing from sheriff’s Cpl. Gary McLarry, who was attempting to arrest or detain him, May 19

* Quentin Lee Wright — burglary of a habitation with intent to commit assault, April 24

* Alejandro Banuelos-Rios — violation of protective order or magistrate’s  order by committing family violence assault against a person by striking with is fist the victim, Sept. 19, 2010

* Eric Alan Fite — assault family violence impeding breathing or circulation of the blood of a woman with whom he had a dating relationship by applying pressure to her throat or neck, Feb. 22

* Kenneth Dean Robbsin — assault family violence impeding breathing or circulation of blood by applying pressure to the throat or neck of a woman with whom he had a dating relationship, Feb. 25

* Terrell Allen Bell III — tampering with or fabricating physical evidence by intentionally concealing a bag of suspected marijuana during a traffic stop, April 16

* Colton Ray Lynch — burglary of a habitation by theft or attempted theft of prescription medication and Camel brand cigarettes owned by another man, April 26

* Brad Lee Robertson — hindering apprehension by harboring or concealing a man to prevent the man’s arrest, prosecution, conviction or punishment, Oct. 10, 2010

* Turkessa V. Brooks – possession of 400 grams or more of the controlled substance cocaine, Dec. 14, 2010

* Sarah Frances Potts — fraud through use of a fraudulent prescription form to obtain the controlled substance Narco by presenting the forged form to a pharmacy, April 3

* Rita Lynn Carney — possession of four grams or more but less than 200 grams of the controlled substance methamphetamine, Dec. 5, 2010

* Gerardo Juarez Gonzalez — possession of one gram or more but less than 4 grams of the controlled substance cocaine, Jan. 15

* Jonathan Lee Gleason — possession of one gram or more but less than four grams of the controlled substance methadone, Jan. 23

* Humberto Escobedo-Chavez — driving while intoxicated, third or more offense, March 26

* Blake Morgan Irving — possession of 4 grams or more but less than 200 grams of the controlled substance methamphetamine, Sept. 7, 2010

* Brian Allen Tucker — capital murder of Bobby Riley by strangulation while in the course of committing or attempting to commit robbery, April 29; theft of two guitars, an amplifier, a mixer and jewelry from Bobby Riley, April 29

* Sarilu Ann Mettlen — capital murder of Bobby Riley by strangulation while in the course of committing or attempting to commit robbery, April 29; theft of two guitars, an amplifier, a mixer and jewelry from Bobby Riley, April 29

* Laberrius Qudon Evans — aggravated assault by threatening or placing a male age 65 or older in fear of imminent bodily injury or death, while in the course of committing theft of property

* Cory Michael Newsom — aggravated assault by threatening or placing a male age 65 or older in fear of imminent bodily injury or death, while in the course of committing theft of property
