Doing their part to help True Blue equine rescue project

Benny and Sue Ann Johnson (right) stopped by Star Country 95.9 Thursday morning to visit with Moose Morgan about their efforts to raise money for True Blue Animal Rescue. True Blue participated in an equine rescue near Winnsboro on Monday. After reading the story in Tuesday’s paper, the couple decided to auction the prize package they won in the News-Telegram’s “Romantic Evening” contest earlier this week and give the proceeds to True Blue, which is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. The package includes dinner for two at The Capital Grille and two tickets to see Johnny Mathis in Dallas on Saturday. The Johnsons will provide transporation to the high bidder, if needed. Star Country radio is hosting the auction and will be taking bids until Friday at 9:59 a.m. At press time today, the auction had raised $600. One bidder also offered a pasture for a recovering horse. Call 903-885-1221 to place a bid. Staff Photo by Luis Noble
