All Sulphur Springs High School Class of 2017 parents and students interested in helping with the Fresh Start 5K will meet at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 10, at Pizza Inn to continue planning for the Jan. 11 event.
Those individuals who are out of high school, but who still need to pass one or more portion of the Texas Assessment of Knowledge and Skills Exit Level test, will have another opportunity to take the test in March. This also includes test-takers who did not pass the former TAAS and TEAMS exams.
Sulphur Springs school trustees will hold their regular monthly board meeting Monday at a special time, noon, as is customary for the December meeting. The session will be held in the board room of Sulphur Springs Independent School District Administration Building, 631 Connally St.
The wintry storm front that swept into the area Thursday has left at least 800 Oncor customers in the Sulphur Springs-Hopkins County and Commerce area without power, thanks to fallen lines at 8 a.m. Friday. It also caused the postponement of most of the weekend Christmas activites scheduled downtown.
Roger Brooks, owner of Roger Brooks International, unveils the new branding concept of Sulphur Springs with the new logo: Sulphur Springs — Celebration City. Brooks also orchestrated the city’s new tag line: “Just Play, Have Fun, Celebrate.” Brooks proposes that the city create a market with daily events in order to drive consumers from surrounding areas into Sulphur Springs.
