Katelyn Cody named Dairy Festival Queen 2009

Katelyn Cody, the daughter of Stacy and Kellie Cody, won the honor of being the ‘golden’ Hopkins County Dairy Festival Queen Saturday night. The pageant was held at the Hopkins County Regional Civic Center  before a near-capacity crowd that included 34 former queens.

Two arrested in separate car chases

Two people were arrested by police over the weekend on felony charges following two separate car chases. Deputies also charged a man found hiding behind a house with assault and threatening an officer with retaliation.

City pool re-opening with more lifeguards

The 6-year-old who was pulled from the deep end of City Pool one week ago remains in the intensive care unit at Dallas Children’s Medical Center, and while Caleb Smith has yet to regain consciousness, recent improvements in his condition are very positive, according to the family’s pastor. City officials also announced Tuesday that City Pool will reopen Wednesday, with one significant change — more lifeguards on duty.
