Melissa Wischerman got off to a great start at her first gymnastic meet of the season! She competed in the Plano Aerobats 2010 T.A.A.F. Qualifying Meet over the weekend.
In the Level 6, Division 2, Melissa placed first in vault, first in bars, second on the beam and second on the floor exercise. She also earned first place All Around.
Trenton Dodd celebrated his 14th birthday with family at the home of his grandparents, William and Joyce Dodd, on Thursday. Joyce reports that they had Soul Man Barbecue and made silly pictures. Everyone had a good time.
Jimmy and Joyce Goldsmith, Mickey and Debbie Davis, Amanda and Ashley Edmonson were all in Austin last week on Thursday through Saturday where Ashley participated in the Special Olympics State Bowling Tournament. She was one of thirteen athletes on the “My Bowl” bowling team from Hopkins County. Joyce reports, “There were 2,700 athletes from Texas that participated in the tournament.”
Sandra Wester enjoyed lunch with her classmates on Tuesday at Juan Pablo’s in Sulphur Springs. It was a celebration of the upcoming birthdays of Jo Nell Crowson Willis and Betty Weir. Also there to celebrate were Catheron Smith Camper, Wynelle Lawson Belz and Virginia (Julie) Price Miller. Lucy Vaden also joined them for lunch. They all signed a card to send to Mary Sue Palmer Clayton who has been in the hospital since late November. Everyone enjoyed visiting and being together.
Chip, Charlie and Tim Vaughn were in Dallas on Saturday helping their sister, Linda, with house repairs. I stayed home to help with the grandchildren. Jaidyn Joslin, 16-month-old daughter of Malcolm and Tiffany Joslin, was sick with RSV for over a week and ended up with pneumonia and was hospitalized from Friday through Sunday. She is doing a lot better now. We are thankful for all the prayers.
Chip and I attended a Super Bowl party, along with other members from our Sunday school class, at the home of Brad and Janiene Fain following church on Sunday afternoon. We had a good time eating, visiting, and watching the game.
Chip’s cousin, Tony Vaughn of Mount Vernon, passed away on Sunday. His funeral service was held today (Wednesday afternoon). Tony was the son of Pearl and the late Kenneth Vaughn of Dike.
