Floyd and Martha Payton were in Longview on Friday to have lunch with Martha's sister Ann Sullivan. Martha says, “We also delivered our Christmas present to our brother, Lon, who lives at Eastman Estates. Longview is always a nice place to visit.”
Tira volunteer firemen, along with firefighters from several other departments, responded to a 190-acre grass fire in Ridgeway on Monday afternoon.
On Friday Sherry Smiddy, Powell Vickery, and Chris and Jenna Vickery had dinner at Saltgrass in Rockwall and then attended a surprise birthday party for Mike Owens, hosted by Tara Petty, at Pearl in downtown Dallas. A blues band featuring Mike Zito was playing, and everyone had a great time. Daylee Fite spent the night with Sandi Wester and Suzan Miller and had fun keeping them busy. On Saturday Sherry, Powell and Daylee Fite attended the Swann Christmas in Winnsboro. Madison, Bryson, and Ethan Vickery, Aysha Day and Daylee spent the day with Sherry and Powell on Sunday.
Michelle and Sophie Markides of Houston spent Sunday through Wednesday visiting Mary Rawson (Michelle’s grandmother).
Suzan Miller, Tommy and Patti Wiebold and Sandra Wester were in Mesquite on Saturday to celebrate the Miller family Christmas at the home of Barry and Carolyn Miller. Also there to enjoy the good food and visiting were Cassie Miller and her fiancé, Matt, Chris Evans and his friend, Brittany, and Jeff and Sue Miller Peeters.
Malcolm, Tiffany, and Jaidyn Joslin spent the weekend at the Villages Resort on Lake Palestine and did some Christmas shopping in Tyler. Morgan and Kenden Joslin went to the Mount Vernon Experimental Aircraft Association (EAA) Christmas party with Chip and me on Saturday night. We had dinner and a gift exchange at the Mount Vernon Airport. Chuck Olmsted also attended the event. On Sunday afternoon Chip, Landon, Morgan, Kenden, Landon’s friend, Chelsie, and I went to the bowling alley for Jordyn Horn’s birthday party. Jordyn is the daughter of Michael and Tracy Horn. They are here from Colorado visiting family for the holidays.
