We want to send our prayers and sympathy to Gina, Daryl and Brian Boyd on the death of their mother and grandmother, Ida Jamison. Would also like all of you to remember Rodney and Jennifer Caudle in your prayers on the loss of her grandmother, Bessie Mabry from Winnsboro. Bessie is Roger Mabry’s mother, and he and his wife go to Brashear Baptist Church.

In talking to Carolyn this week, I learned that her grandson, Kaleb Wallace, is running in regionals this weekend. He will be running in the 800 meters, 400 meters and in the mile relay team. We want to wish him good luck.

I know all of you saw the big headlines last week about the Brashear Baptist Church Youth fundraiser but I forgot to mention that they made approximately $1,700. Way to go youths — I know that will go a long way toward your summer camp this year.

Speaking of summer camp, I hope all of you noticed the Youth Work Camp that our local churches are sponsoring for our youths. It will be an intense three days of work in helping out people in our community that might need some fixing up around their houses. Excuse the grammar, but I felt that expressed what I wanted to say. Donations are welcome — just contact any of the churches in Sulphur Springs on how you can help out. The donations may be time, money or food. Just do something to help out.

As you know, there is a bond election going on. I know that all of you love kids and we want the best for them. So let’s make sure they have the best education and best facilities possible. Remember to vote!

Put the following dates on your calendar:

  • June 6 will be the Cemetery Homecoming
  • May 9 will be the Plant Swap at the ballfield
  • June 13 will be a canning demonstration at the Community Center.
