We want to express our sympathy to the family of Marvin Englander. He passed away last week and was buried on Sunday afternoon. Marvin was the brother-in-law of Dorothy and John Hadley.
Mary Rawson’s granddaughter and great-granddaughter, Michelle and Sophie Markides, arrived from Houston on Saturday and visited with Mary until Monday night, while Conn (Michelle’s husband) was away for a conference. On Sunday, they met Danny and Judy Rawson in Greenville and enjoyed lunch together at TaMolly’s. Troy and Georgia Smith visited Mary and her guests on Sunday afternoon. Georgia and her sister, Joyce Johnson of Mesquite, were in Oklahoma on Saturday for a wedding shower for Joyce’s son.
Kadee Melton was honored with a party for her 18th birthday on Saturday hosted by Mark, Stephanie, Kyle and Kayla Keahey at their home in Grand Saline. Tira was blessed with rain on Friday and Saturday. We had some wind along with the rain, too, but I have not heard of any damage from the storm, other than a tree across our Farm-to-Market Road 1536. Tira volunteer firefighters, Malcolm Joslin and Chuck Olmstead, cut up the tree and removed if from the roadway.
Our grandson, Kenden Joslin, played in his first baseball game in Cooper on Monday night. He made a home-run, but I was in Austin and did not get to be a part of the excitement.
Janice Franks, Business Manager at Rivercrest ISD, and I attended the Texas Association of School Boards Risk Management Conference in Austin from Sunday evening through Tuesday. We spent our days in workshops concerning workers’ compensation, leave and absences, and unemployment compensation, and sessions on legislative issues, etc. Monday evening, we were bussed to the Bob Bullock Texas State History Museum where we were treated to a meal and music. We enjoyed viewing the exhibits and learning about our great state of Texas. We stopped in Round Rock and did a little shopping on our way back on Tuesday.
