We want to express our sympathy to the family of Edna Smith. She passed away last Wednesday and her funeral was held on Saturday afternoon. Edna’s sons are Jimmy and Lee Joslin and her brother is Murray Smith.

Chuck Olmstead hosted a Fly-In and Chili Cook-off at his home on Saturday. Several of his friends gathered and enjoyed sampling the different chili recipes and all the trimmings, but the weather was not cooperative for people to land their airplanes on his grass runway.

There was a good turnout for the North Hopkins Scholarship Foundation dinner and auction. As always, the meal was delicious and the auction was a success.

Regina Payton spent a few days with her parents, Floyd and Martha Payton. She was in Fort Worth conducting some business on rental property. Floyd celebrated his 79th birthday a day early with lunch out and running errands. Martha's brother and sister-in-law, Von and Loretta Honzell, stopped by for a short visit on Thursday. Martha says, “We enjoyed coffee and pie together.” They attended the funeral of Chris Carter, which was conducted by their pastor and friend, Bro. Raymond Barber. The Carters and Honzells attended Worth Baptist Church in Fort Worth years ago.

I had hoped that the cold weekend did not hinder people from getting out and making news, but I guess it did. I hope to have more news to report next week.
