Mark your calendars for the annual Tira Community Christmas Party on Saturday, Dec. 7, at the community center. We will begin with a meal at 6:30 p.m. and hope to have a visit from Santa later. Brisket will be furnished and residents should bring side dishes and desserts. Make plans to come for a nice time of visiting with your neighbors.

Matthew Dodd celebrated his fifth birthday last Saturday, with a Duck Dynasty theme. His grandmother, Joyce Dodd, reports, “He had a camo cake and pond water punch, along with hot dogs and chips. It was a fun day for Matthew and his guests.”

Morgan Joslin, Eric Fox, Patrick Pearce and Tristan Ziemke — members of the Civil Air Patrol Color Guard — posted the colors at the Liberty Memorial Dedication Ceremony at L-3 Mission Integration Division in Greenville on Thursday, Nov. 14. The ceremony was in honor of the fallen crew members of Liberty 32; “Independence 08,” who flew during Operation Enduring Freedom. The boys were honored to be invited to participate in the ceremony, which included several high ranking officials. The Civil Air Patrol meetings are held on Tuesdays at 6 p.m. at the Sulphur Springs Airport in the old terminal.
