Robert and Yvonne Weir were married 40 years on Nov. 10. Yvonne shared about her wedding. She says, “My cousin, Curtis Jones, gave me away. Garry Crowson was the best man and Cathy Chaney Clark was the maid of honor. We got married at Tira Methodist Church. It was a beautiful fall day.

The reception was at Helen and Herm’s house [Robert’s parents]. We didn’t have a bow on the cake-cutting knife, so Helen tied her housecoat belt on it. We got married at 10 a.m. so we could make it to New Orleans that night for a 2-day honeymoon. Mary Helen [Robert’s sister] decorated our Mustang up and our suitcases were full of rice. Sure do love that old boy!” Here’s wishing the happy couple many more loving years together!

Joyce Dodd and her son, Michael, took a short trip to Hot Springs on Thursday and Friday. They reported that the leaves were beautiful. They enjoyed shopping, going to Garvin Woodlawn Gardens, and had some wonderful food. They also saw deer when they went up the mountains. Joyce says, “Now is the perfect time to go, before the leaves fall.”

Kiegan and Acie Shehan spent the night with Wesley Weir on Friday.

Daylee Fite, Lexie Logan, and Hadlee and Jalyn Hrabal with the Cross Spur Cowboy Church teamed up with Verizon Wireless and had a can and coat drive to donate to Blue Santa and CANHelp. They received 55 coats and 118 cans. The girls had fun doing the good deed for the community. There was also face painting, cake walks and drawings. They want to express their thanks to all that assisted in this effort for the community.

Georgia Smith and Joyce Johnson visited with Mary Rawson on Tuesday night, and then they all went to Mineola to shop at the Pecan House on Wednesday.
